Hey there! Welcome to my blog, Spain in Color.
My name is Mara and I am an American Expat living in Spain. I don’t really like the label expat, or any label at that, but for introductory purposes, I’ll go ahead and introduce myself using a few.
I am a 25 year old Master’s Student/ Academic Advisor living in Spain. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, California and I graduated with a Bachelors of Science from a university in the Los Angeles area with the goal of going to medical school and becoming an Osteopathic Physician. After graduating, however, I decided to not follow the plan and to travel for a year before making any major life decisions. Almost three years later, here I am, still in Spain, documenting my experience and sharing my knowledge with whomever may be interested.
My life has not gone according to plan, and I am ever-so grateful that it didn’t. I am still learning and growing and I am looking forward to sharing my journey with you during my 25th year of life.
“In ordinary life, we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
I wouldn’t consider myself a writer– in fact, I am more of a science and math kind of girl; but I decided to take messy action and create the Spain in Color blog to document my 25th year and help people who might be interested in moving abroad or curious about what life is like here. I share valuable information about traveling and living abroad as well as my personal experiences living as a woman of color in Spain.
I want to help you! So if you have any specific questions about Spain, study abroad, travel, or anything else, please feel free to contact me below.
